David Orazietti is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He is currently a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Sault Ste. Marie for the Liberal Party.
Orazietti is a third-generation resident of Sault Ste. Marie. He worked as a teacher in the Algoma District School Board for ten years, and served as president of the Sault and Algoma Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation. He was elected to represent Ward One on the city's municipal council in 1997, and was re-elected in 2000.
In the provincial election of 2003, Orazietti scored an unexpectedly lopsided victory over Tony Martin, who had represented the Sault Ste. Marie riding since 1990. He is the first Liberal to win election in the provincial seat since 1937, and the first ever MPP from the city's prominent Italian community. Since his election, he has attained passage of a private member's bill reforming the province's Northern Health Travel Grant.
On September 27, 2004, Orazietti was named parliamentary assistant to Minister of Education Gerard Kennedy.
