David Mann Bike

The David Mann Bike was a motorcycle built by Orange County Choppers (OCC) on the American reality television show American Chopper. This bike started on a high note for OCC founder Paul Teutul Sr., but ended with mixed feelings of happiness and loss. Originally Paul Sr. set off to a show showcasing bobber style bikes and David Mann paintings. During the party, Paul had an opportunity to speak with Mann over the phone for the first time, Mann being sick in the hospital with emphysema at the time. Paul was so invigorated by this conversation, along with the memories Mann's paintings brought back of how these very same works of art had first driven him to bikes, that he set out to create a David Mann tribute bike.
Unfortunately, mid-way through the fabrication process, David Mann died on September 11th 2004. The project became more personal for Paul, wanting to create a worthy tribute to his now-late hero. Eventually the bike was completed, and was quite a success. In addition to showing her the bike, Paul presented Mann's wife Jacqueline with a print of it, and told her the Orange County Choppers would sell copies of this print and give her all the proceeds to pay off Mann's remaining medical bills and funeral expenses.
