David Johnson is the Assistant Majority leader of the Iowa Senate and is the Senator from the 3rd District. He has served in the Iowa Senate since 2002 and served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1998-2002.

Johnson currently serves on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Appropriations committee; the Human Resources committee; the Natural Resources and Environment committee; and the Agriculture committee, where he is co-chair.

In his 2006 bid for re-election Johnson received 12,328 votes, defeating Democratic opponent Mel Berryhill. [1]
