David Humphrey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Humphrey is an American actor/comedian that played Frankie in the play of Forever Plaid He is most well known for being the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog in the Sonic games. Many fans say that the tone of his voice fit Shadow's appearance and personality. He also played Thomas Jefferson in the play of 1776.
He was casted to play Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001, by his Forever Plaid colleague and friend Ryan Drummond who played Smudge in Forever Plaid and who was the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog at the time. Many Sonic fans were very grateful with his performance as Shadow. He would voice Shadow for the next few years in the Sonic games such as Sonic Heroes and Sonic Battle. However his time as Shadow was cut short when Sega decided that the voices on Sonic X and in the games should be the same starting with Shadow the Hedgehog (video game). Humphrey was replaced by Jason Anthony Griffith who also replaced Ryan Drummond as Sonic. Many fans criticized this decision saying that it was Humphrey's time to shine. Many fans have sent requests to Sega for David Humphrey to voice Shadow once again.
David also voiced the character Vlad in the September 2006 episode of the online animated videogame-spoofing series Press Start: Bonus Levels entitled "Symphony of the Trite."
David is also a bass singer in a cappella sextet, known as Vybration.
