David Christopher DeJesus (b. December 20, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York) is a center fielder currently with the Kansas City Royals. He is 6 feet tall and 186 pounds. As of 2006, he is 26 years old and makes an average of $500,000 a year. He replaced Carlos Beltrán after Beltrán was traded to the Houston Astros in 2004 and has a career batting average of .286 entering 2005. He attended Rutgers University. DeJesus was raised in Manalapan, New Jersey. He recently signed a 5-year contract with the Royals with a club option for 2011.
