David Conway (music historian)

David Conway (born 1950) is a writer on music and music history, currently preparing a book on the involvement of Jews in the musical professions in the period 1780-1850.

Conway is a graduate of King's College, Cambridge University and presently a graduate student at University College, London, completing his doctoral thesis.

David Conway's publications include articles in Wagner Magazine, East European and Slavonic Review, and European Judaism. He is a contributor to the major German music dictionary, Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart and edits the bulletin of the Alkan Society. He contributes regular music criticism to the web magazine of the UK think tank, the Social Affairs Unit.

Conway is a frequent visitor to the former Soviet Union, where, based on his previous experience in local government and in business, he works as an advisor to economic and democratic development programmes on behalf of the European Commission and the British Department for International Development, (DFID).

Conway lives in Southgate and is married to Nadia. He is a member of his local Enfield Primary Care Trust board, chairing the Audit committee and a member of the Remuneration committee [1]. He was previously a local elected Conservative Party councillor.
