David Biespiel

David Biespiel (born 1964) is an American poet born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Houston. He earned a B.A. from Boston University (where he was a scholarship diver and competed in the United States Diving National Championships) and a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from the University of Maryland. From 1993-1995 he held a Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University and in 1997 received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Literature. He is a regular columnist on poetry for The Oregonian. His books of poetry include: Shattering Air (1996), Pilgrims & Beggars (2002), and Wild Civility (2003). He is currently the editor of Poetry Northwest magazine.
