Dave Fridmann
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dave Fridmann is a musician and record producer. He played bass guitar for Mercury Rev and has produced a series of records from various bands.
He played with Mercury Rev from their foundation in 1984, but began work as an engineer and producer five years later, with engineering and mixing credits for Dan Berggren's 'Mountain Air' [1]. From 1990 onwards he co-produced all releases by Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips (with the exception of Transmissions From The Satellite Heart for the latter). Other prominent bands he has worked with include Weezer, Saxon Shore, Ed Harcourt, Sparklehorse, Café Tacuba, Elf Power, Mogwai, Thursday, The Delgados, Low, Phantom Planet, Gemma Hayes, Goldrush, Japanese band Number Girl and Sleater-Kinney.
Fridmann often brings a distinctive, expansive, open sound to the albums he produces, which has much in common with that used by Mercury Rev.
In 2006, Fridmann will enter the studio once again to work with IMMORTAL Records artist Brazil (Muncie, Indiana).
Fridmann also produced Some Loud Thunder, the second album by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, which is to be released on January 30, 2007.
