Dave Dederer

Dave Dederer, best known as guitarist and singer for The Presidents of the United States of America, was born on October 5, 1964. An alumnus of Seattle, Washington's Bush School and Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, he founded the Presidents with fellow Bush School alumnus Christopher Ballew, with whom he had been playing in various bands since 1984. He has also been a member of The Gentlemen and Loaded with former member of Guns N' Roses Duff McKagan, also a Seattle native.
Prior to experiencing global success in the mid-'90s with the Presidents, Dederer taught high school English at Kent Denver School and Bush School, did public relations work on environmental issues, and attended graduate school in urban planning at the University of Washington. He also has been a lifelong athlete, having competed at various times in soccer, basketball, ski racing, and bike racing, as well as having spent many years as an avid rock climber, mountaineer, and fly fisherman.
Dederer currently works as a public affairs consultant at Seattle firm Pyramid Communications. He also is actively engaged in exploring new modes for music distribution on the Internet; he has presented on this topic at a number of events, including Podcast Hotel and Gnomedex.
