General Daud Abdulle Hirsi ( Somali: Jeneraal Daauud Cabdulle Xirsi ) was the first Somalia military man with an academic background. He became minister of defence after Somalia's independence. The Mogadishu football competition is since named after him; "The Cup of General Daud".
