In another version, the story gets known when the foreign guy asked a question about his first date on a dating message board, causing silent ovation there.

What's “silent ovation” supposed to mean, here?

This story appears to have been made up out of whole cloth, despite being claimed as an urban legend (does not appear on Snopes or other sites?) and does not have any references. It also makes a claim without substantiation - the story is unknown on the Pacific coast because of feminism, and the second version would not be known in "macho countries"? Perhaps it's unknown because it is not a common story? 67.10.133.121 21:59, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
