Darren Lynn Bousman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Darren Lynn Bousman is a film director born in 1980 originally from Overland Park, Kansas. He is a graduate of the Film School at Full Sail. During 2004 he was pitching an idea for a movie called 'The Desperate' to various studios, who complained that the screenplay was too violent, and the plot was too Saw-ish. James Wan and Leigh Whannell caught wind of this, and called Darren the day Saw came out in theaters and asked if he was interested in reworking 'The Desperate' as Saw II. Darren enthusiastically agreed, and after Wan helped him adapt the screenplay to fit into the Saw universe, signed Darren onto direct it. Saw II was extremely profitable and hailed by some critics as even better than the original Saw, and Darren enjoyed working on the project so much that he was signed onto direct Saw III, which was released on October 27, 2006. After Saw II Darren was asked by heavy rock band 'Mudvayne' to direct their next single "Forget to Remember" which happens to be the main song on the Saw II(2005) soundtrack. Darren is the first horror director to ever have his first two major Hollywood films open up at #1. Saw II and Saw III. This makes him one of the most sucessful horror directors of all time. He recently signed a deal with Harvey Weinstein's new company. Currently, Darren is working on production of a film called 'Wichita,' which is being produced by Twisted Pictures and Dimension Films.
