Darrell Brock Jr. is chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky.
On July 11, 2005, a grand jury issued a criminal indictment against Brock for violating the state civil service system during his previous tenure as Commissioner of the Governor's Office for Local Development. On August 29, 2005, Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher announced he had granted blanket criminal pardons to everyone involved in the patronage scandal. (Fletcher excluded himself from the pardon.)
In September of that year Governor Fletcher called for Brock to be dismissed as state party chairman. On September 17, 2005, the state party's central committee defied Fletcher and retained Brock as state party leader.
