Dark side devotee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dark Side devotees are, in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, those who use the Force for evil ends. They have little to no formal training in either the Jedi or Sith ways; nevertheless, it is customary to refer to the more skilled and powerful Dark side devotee as a Dark Jedi. Typically, a Dark sider is born Force-sensitive and discover the power this grants as they grow up. Without the Jedi Order to guide them, they inevitably discover the power of the Dark side, and are corrupted. Soon the scope of their home world for adventure, training, and powerful Dark side artifacts and locations is exhausted, and many Dark side devotees become itinerant wanderers on the star ways. The most powerful, during the time of the Galactic Empire, gravitated towards fellow Dark siders, learned from them (and possibly became their servant or slave as a price- temporarily), fought them, and sought the favor of the Emperor himself; the Prophets of the Dark side and other servants of the Emperor. A Dark side devotee's (like the Night sisters of Dathomir) Force powers tend to be focussed on "Alter" powers, powers that manipulate others, for the Dark side thrives on hunger, desire, and all the emotions that flow from those; arrogance is another, fostered by the circumstances which dictate that many such persons come from primitive tribes or groups that reverence them for their supernatural powers and control over the natural world. Two of the strongest Dark Side Adepts (who served the Emperor) in Dark Empire were Savuud Thimram and Gwellib Ap-Llewff.
