Dark Kat is the arch-enemy of the SWAT Kats in the animated television series SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, a large feline villain with purple fur and yellow eyes, always seen wearing black robes and possessing a booming voice provided by Brock Peters.

Precisely why Dark Kat has purple fur is never revealed, and his origins and real name are never touched upon at all in the series. Some fans have theorized he has demonic origins, due to the fact he is always accompanied by small pink dragon-like creatures which he calls Creeplings. However, Dark Kat lacks any superpowers, demonic or otherwise, and relies entirely on his keen criminal mind and destructive inventions to get the job done. In early promotional material for the series, it was said Dark Kat's alter-ego was a Megakat City judge who practiced revolving-door justice in order to get his fellow criminals back out onto the streets that much sooner, and thereby undermine the justice system. However this concept was abandoned early on and nothing of it whatsoever is evident in the show.

A true megalomaniac (and pegged as such by the SWAT Kats themselves on more than one occasion), Dark Kat is the most ruthless and cunning enemy the vigilante duo has ever encountered, and he is singlehandedly responsible for getting them kicked out of the Enforcers (as revealed in a flashback in the episode The Wrath of Dark Kat), for it was while chasing him that they crashed their jet into Enforcer Headquarters. Dark Kat's crimes have been many and varied but his ultimate goal, first revealed in The Wrath of Dark Kat and later touched upon once more in Katastrophe, is to completely destroy Megakat City and then rebuild it in his image as "Dark Kat City, where lawlessness is the law of the land."
