Darius Defoe

Darius Defoe (born October 30, 1984 in London, England) is a British professional basketball player, and currently plays for the Newcastle Eagles in the British Basketball League.
The 6ft9 power forward, who is also able to play in the centre, joined Newcastle in 2004 from Hackney White Heat, and has been instrumental in the success of the Eagles over the past few years. In his first season of professional basketball (British Basketball League 2004-05|2004-05), Defoe notched up 40 games, playing 521 minutes while recording averages of 4.80 PPG and 3.33 RPG and also picking up a BBL Trophy winners medal and a Play-off winners medal. In the 2005-06 season Defoe bettered his averages (8.34 PPG and 4.78 RPG) while putting in some impressive performances for the teams phenomenal "clean sweep" successes in the BBL Cup, Trophy, Championship and Play-offs.
