Darina Allen

Darina Allen, (born 1951 in Portlaoise) is an Irish chef, TV personality and founder of Ballymaloe Cookery School in Shanagarry, County Cork, Ireland. A graduate of the Dublin Institute of Technology, she is the author of several successful books on the topic of Irish farmhouse cuisine. She is a leader of the Slow Food movement in Ireland. She lives with husband Tim Allen, author of several bread cookbooks, on her organic farm, Kinoith, in Shanagarry. Many famous guests have visited Ballymaloe, including Jude Law, Sienna Miller and Queen Sonja of Norway to name just a few.
