Dariga Nursultanqyzy Nazarbayeva (Kazakh: Дариға Нұрсұлтанқызы Назарбаева) (born 7 May 1963 in Temirtau, Kazakhstan) is a Kazakh lawmaker and daughter of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. She is head of the official state-run news agency, Khabar. She is known for forming the Kazakh political party Asar, Kazakh for "All together." Asar merged with the pro-Nazarbayev party Otan in July 2006.[1]
Many believe President Nazarbayev is grooming his daughter to succeed him upon his retirement. She is currently ineligible to run due to a constitutional provision stating that the head of state be non-partisan. The relationship with her father has deteriorated recently, in part due to the criticism she sometimes expresses[2].
She is married to Rakhat Aliyev, with whom she has two sons, Nurali and Aisoultan [3]. She has one granddaughter, Laura (son of Nurali), who was born in 2003 [4] .
Dariga served as a jury member in the second season of SuperStar KZ.[citation needed]
