Darcy Lever
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Darcy Lever is a small village/suburb of Bolton, formerly in Lancashire now part of Greater Manchester. The main part of the village is along the B6209 (Radcliffe Road), which links Bolton to Little Lever. The village has a church, a primary school, a newsagent, a general store and four pubs, The Lever Bridge Inn, The Volunteer (formerly The Artillery & Volunteer), The Farmers Arms and The Levers Arms -- although the post office has now closed. The village also boasts two cricket pitches and borders both Moses Gate Country Park and Leverhulme Park. Darcy Lever also "boasts" the steepest public highway in Bolton, Gorses Steps. Through the village and park are the remains of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal and the Bolton-Bury/Radcliffe railway line.
