Darah Rateb

Darah Rateb is a prominent Canadian-Egyptian journalist who is famous for her controversial articles and political views. She is known for participating in numerous international conferences promoting peace and an understanding of Islamic culture around the world. She was part of the Amr Khaled mission to Denmark to bridge the cultural gap created by the Jyllands-Posten cartoons. Darah is also hitting Cairo's popular talk shows, and is expected to join Moez Masoud a moderate Islamic talk show host, this coming Ramadan in a series called "Stairway to Paradise". Darah is the grand-daughter of the late desginer Hussein Helmy of the prominent downtown Yacoubian building, which was the subject of the novel and acclaimed film The Yacoubian Building.
