[edit] Source for Attalus I image?

Hi Daniel, I noticed that you added this image to the article Attalus I. There has been some discussion here and here about this image. Can you provide any information why it is believed that this sculpture is connected with Attalus I? I've looked on [1] but can find nothing about it. I am going to remove the image from the article. We can add it back if we can find a reliable source for this actually being a depiction of Attalus I. Thanks for your help. Paul August ☎ 14:33, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes Paul, I see the discussions; I'm not exactly an expert in this field, and when I happened upon that image (at attalus.org, as it were) I assumed it was likely some likeness of him. It seems, based on what is being showed, that that's not the case. The removal is appropriate, and I will list it for deletion as the image title is now rendered incorrect. --DanielNuyu 03:27, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Armenian Genocide/Working version

  • In future please do not blank articles that are up for VfD. Although it is highly likely the article will be deleted, editors wish to refer to the article during the voting process without having to go through the history page. Megan1967 02:31, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Replacing an image

Hi Daniel. When you wanted to replace Image:Velazquez Surrender of Breda.jpg with Image:DiegoVelazquez SurrenderofBreda.jpg, it would have been much easier to simply upload the file with the same name, Velazquez_Surrender_of_Breda.jpg. Then you wouldn't have had to update pages to use the new title, and you wouldn't have had to nominate the old title for deletion. Cheers, dbenbenn | talk 18:10, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Oldmansea fuentes.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Oldmansea fuentes.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 04:43, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Hemingway VonKurowsky.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hemingway VonKurowsky.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Stan 03:45, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] UCLA Chancellor Rumors

Daniel, please stop editing Wikipedia profiles because of one LA Times article rumoring about the new UCLA chancellor. Spend your time actually adding something relevant to the article. Albert Carnesale's article really doesn't need a mention of a rumor of who's going to replace him. That's like if Pres. Bush's entry had possible presidential candidates on it. -Iheartwiki19

  • Thank you, User:Iheartwiki19. In the future, please make some kind of substantial contribution to the articles in question if you disapprove with what's there/raise the issue on the talk pages before you walk around criticizing the contributions of others on their talk pages. And there is nothing wrong with adding the rumor to Carnesale's article as I see it. If she does indeed replace him, it will be added there permanently; if it's someone else, we can simply change the name. In any case, that fact is significant, and for better or worse, will be part of the history of the chancellorship. --DanielNuyu 00:21, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Reminder...

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.
