[edit] annoynaces!

Hey, I got bored of displaying all my userboxes constantly on my user page, so I edited my userboxes subpage and made the header expanadable, when i added this to my user page It put everything below the useboxes header in line with the header, you'll see what i mean on my user page! I then made a subpage for awards that was also expandable, when i put a link to this underneath the link to the userbox template on my user page it was only shown when i expanded the userboxes and then the awards, why is this? I did kinda guess the codeing? can you help sort this out please!? --JiMoThYTALK

Done, and responded on your talk page regarding the awards problems. Daniel.Bryant 07:17, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey Daniel

Thanks for the info i just had a couple of questions about wikipedia.

  1. How do you put a contents box in an article?
  2. How do you aquire user box thing eg. your soccer box?
  3. Can HTML be embedded into a user page? and
  4. Why are you so cool LOL

Thanks --Abb401 08:16, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

In response:
1. It will be placed automatically if there is enough sections to warrant it. If there is less than three, it does not appear, because of logistical reasons. WP:TOC has more.
2. See WP:BOX for more details. It's very easy :D
3. Yes, apparently. Not 100% sure, but some of my colleagues are, so I'll take their word for it.
4. Thanks!
Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 08:20, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for doing that for me, I'm not to worried about the awards but it would be nice to achieve the same for them! Thanks for your time. I will be refering my friends to you!--JiMoThYTALK 14:16, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the bot. The amount of days set for achiving is fine at the moment. DARReNTALK

[edit] (Untitled)

Hi. Maybe you can assist me. I typed in the biography on my father John McHale. Then I tried to type in a separate biography for Frank Cordell and lost all the Cordell copy on the Wiki edit function. Can you retrieve it from your wiki desk?

All the best, John McHale —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ottex (talkcontribs).

Unfortunately, no, it can't be recovered, and even if it was, I doubt the article would have been allowed to remain. Please read WP:BIO and WP:LIVING for more details on what articles will be accepted on Wikipedia. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 07:04, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] new user

would it be possible for u to find a place in ur heart to form a user page similar to jimothy trotter's but in an orange theme

thnx —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bottombadger (talkcontribs).

Firstly, you need to have content on your page, as I can't simply make an empty page. Also, orange is already taken (see User:Dean randall), so I'd prefer it be a different colour. However, I'm also going to have to refuse until you make some contributions to articles on Wikipedia, as I am against the use of Wikipedia purely as a means of conversation, and I can't be sure that you won't do this until you have made decent contributions to Wikipedia. Sorry, Daniel.Bryant 07:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I now have content, and believe I have added to two articles and started one. I shall be adding more, so could you please make that user page, as I just wish to be part of the community. Can u deny me that. Bottombadger 20:59, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Denied. The article you created will be deleted, as it fails WP:NOTE. Your "addition"to AC/DC was redundant, and hence removed. One section addition isn't enough.
And considering the lack of civility that you have displayed towards me, when asking a favour, the answer will probably be no anyways. Daniel.Bryant 22:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Ryanlong and friends

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your recent contributions to the checkuser request for Ryanlong. This guy was an obvious sockpuppet account of User:Frys104; in fact, one of his contributions was this edit, made before he was blocked, but just a few minutes after user:Frys104 had just been blocked. The user accounts in question were reported months ago (by me), but it took a long while to get administrator attention. Frys104 was blocked indefinitely, but by the time I myself had become an administrator, the accounts had been inactive for months. At the time, I didn't think there was any use blocking them, since they were inactive, but I saw Ryanlong was active again yesterday. Thanks for your quick action on this user. User:Demi blocked the Ryanlong account yesterday, and I blocked user:Pjh1810 today, even though there is still no sign of life on that account. As Frys104 and user:Worstnightmare were blocked months back, it appears all known sock accounts are blocked. Just wanted to thank you for your dilligence concerning these accounts. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 01:59, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

No problems. Thanks for blocking the socks. Daniel.Bryant 06:32, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help

Hey Dan, when I typed in Alphabet Spaghetti into Wikipedia and it came up with no results - I was pysically sick. Please help me make Alphabets (pasta) a great article. I need your help! Thanks, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 06:23, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Made some edits to wikify it. I'd be happy to help. Daniel.Bryant 06:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Thankyou Daniel. And thankyou for the Star, I do appreciate it. I meant everthing I said, you would make a fine administrator, and I would be happy to support you. You amaze me with your kindness and your attitude to Wikipedia and other editors. Anytime my friend, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 10:20, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
No problems, and thanks! Daniel.Bryant 10:26, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:EA/UPA

Hi again. I feel bad about this but could you take over from me as the spammer for the current contest on the user page award as I will be unable to take the time at present to monitor what happens currently. Once I have more time I will volunteer again if this position is still vacant. Once again I apologise but the reason for my lack of time on Wikipedia due to work was unforeseen when I agreed to take on the position. Wikiwoohoo 15:16, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Will do. Daniel.Bryant 06:19, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Impersonation

Thanks for pointing it out. I'm currently consultating as to my next move. Daniel.Bryant 07:34, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Sure, do what has to be done to find the impersonator. Thankyou for your quick response Daniel. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 08:14, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I must leave, but if Culverin is the sockmaster - please be leinient. I know and trust that you will handle this matter fairly. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 08:44, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I'll try. Maybe a short-ish block if he is found to be the puppet-master (2 weeks-or-so for the personal attacks and impersonation) would be best. Daniel.Bryant 08:49, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Thank you, Daniel Bryant, for supporting my RFA, which passed 95 to 1. I'd write "ditto what I put on everyone else's talk page" here, but you're probably not reading the talk pages of the other people (whom I wrote to so far), plus I'm writing customized messages for each one. Anyways, thank you for your support, and I hope to live up to the standards. —this is messedrocker (talk) 08:42, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

No problems. Congrats! Daniel.Bryant 06:18, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I didn't even think of Culverin when going thru the list of people who might have done this - only you did. Daniel.Bryant 06:20, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
I know his style too well, half-way through though, because he was denying it so strongly, I did seriously doubt it was, in fact him. But checkuser does'nt lie. Thanks, Dan. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 09:10, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
No problems. Detective Daniel says: "Case closed" :D Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiLove!

Get it? A weaver ant for Daniel.Bryant? Anyhow, keep up the good work, as you've contributed a lot of great edits to Wikipedia! :D (another ackward attempt at comedy by TBCTaLk?!?)

Thanks TBC! I always remember, your user page was the first ever I saw when I joined Wikipedia, so this is quite an honour. Thanks again. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 06:21, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] quotes

I created a new quotes page for my user page, I wanted it to work out the day and replace the quote with a certain "quotation!" for each day, i based it upon my status changer. It works, however I am currently using {{CURRENTWEEKDAY}} which dosn't specify what actual day it is e.g Monday... I was wondering what template would be needed to work this out? Thanks in advance --JiMoThYTALK 21:30, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

So you want seven quotes to cycle for every day of the week? Daniel.Bryant 06:21, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
I think you want {{CURRENTWEEKDAYNAME}}. Daniel.Bryant 07:50, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Thnaks, thats just what I needed. --JiMoThYTALK 14:31, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Go raibh maith agat!

Hi there, Daniel!

Thank you so much for supporting my RfA! It ended up passing and I'm rather humbled by the support (and a bit surprised that it was snowballed a day early!). Please let me know if I can help you out and I welcome any comments, questions, or advice you wish to share.

P.S. I see you on IRC all the time, but this way my thank you is a bit more permanent! Cheers

[edit] Thank you so much!

Hi Daniel! Thank you SO much for giving me that barnstar in recognition of my 20,000th edit. When I first signed up to wikipedia I had no idea I'd put in so much time, let alone that I'd still be at it, but a passion for the project has grown on me and it has become a labour of love, for which I've had no thought of reward. But it's really heartwarming to know that somebody has noticed what I've been doing. I'm very, very grateful for the barnstar, which I'm moving to my user page. David Cannon 11:44, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

No problems. If I could be half the editor that you are, not just in edit count by also in the quality of those edits, I'd be extremely happy. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 11:47, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quackstar

The Golden Quackstar
I award you Húsönd's Golden Quackstar for your exhaustive, kind, and encouraging comment at my editor review. Thank you so much for all the time you spent reviewing my contributions. I hope that I may always meet your expectations. Best regards.--Húsönd 15:54, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Once again, thank you for your comment at my review. I am now a bit embarrassed for not having made a more thorough comment at your own review. There is something though, that I would like to add. You wrote that you are aiming to apply for adminship in June 2007, which is an awful long way to go. :-) Hopefully you will change your mind to a (much) earlier date, but whenever you decide to bring forth your RfA I want you to know that I would be glad to nominate/co-nominate you. Best regards.--Húsönd 15:54, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Wow, thanks! I'll take your further suggestion on board, and if the time is right, I might just put it into action :D Daniel.Bryant 01:06, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Resilient-barnstar.png

Hey Daniel, you won't hear any objections from me. :) I'm glad you found the first barnstar proposal image I uploaded useful. Kind regards, Sango123 18:25, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Daniel.Bryant 01:04, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MOTD

I was just wondering, where can you submit a MOTD suggestion?  Daniel_123  ►  13:12, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 01:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use of quadruple =s

I used the ==== on the request as a quick fix for the usage of ==. Kintetsubuffalo may get rather confused by such a comment considering they themselves didn't actually use it. You can accost me for if you want though. Good job otherwise at keeping RFCU nice and clean. --Kevin_b_er 06:55, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. Responded in more detail on your talk page. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 07:02, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re Damien Sully

You think this guy is notable enough to have an article? Doesn't seem that way to me -- football umpire. Herostratus 08:37, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Ah, yes. He is. Following the lead of many of the major codes (see the A-League, many of the referees do) and the List of Australian rules football umpires. I find it near-offensive that you consider umpires to be "not notable enough", even when players are. As an umpire myself, I can tell you that without us, there wouldn't be a game. It's even referenced, so no problems with verifying the facts. Daniel.Bryant 08:42, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and WP:BIO states "Sportspeople/athletes who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, or at the highest level in mainly amateur sports, including college sports in the United States." There is absolutely no doubt that umpires are "sportspeople", and they are participating in a fully professional league. I'd appreciate it if you removed the tag before I feel even more offended (I'll AGF and decide that you are not considering umpires "not integral" to the game, not "sportspeople" and "not notable", but this was rather a misunderstanding). Daniel.Bryant 08:47, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
This has nothing to with how useful umpires are. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, accounts etc. are all useful, we don't have articles on each one of them. BTW "...who have played. Whatever, I'll send it to AfD instead, where it will doubtless be deleted. The fact that you're "offended" by the tag and even need to mention AFG? Puhleeze. Herostratus 08:54, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Doubtless? It doesn't seem so... Daniel.Bryant 01:45, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RFCU Clerk

Hi Daniel. It looks like you're doing a great job so far. I wanted to let you know that we don't generally feel the need to annotate formatting fixes and other minor corrections with the Clerk-Note template as the edit summary should be sufficient. I don't want to create the impression in someone's mind that we are somehow "involved" in every request (I mean, we are, but we aren't--does that scan?) Anyway, thanks and keep it up.
