Oh my god! A high school junior who knows what the homotopy lifting property is and is familiar with Galois theory! :) Phys 22:15, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Yes. I've been studying math on my own for about a year and a half. Dan Gardner 01:45, 17 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Well, what else is there to do in Keene? (A joke, honest! - from Wikipedia's other registered Granite Stater) - DavidWBrooks

Greetings. You've already made many good contributions. You certainly seem to know a lot about topology (it's not one of my strongest suits, personally...) You may want to check out the Wikiproject Mathematics. There are a lot of tips and info there. You can add your name and talk about stuff. Charles Matthews seems to have become the current mathematical administrator, although also Axel, Toby, and Michael Hardy keep up on things. The TeX markup page is good. Some very general guidelines for initial pages:

  • It has become common custom to preface almost all math articles with "In mathematics,...", probably not a bad idea.
  • We try to use HTML inline as much as possible, and only TeX math mode when separated off.
  • We try to write out things in words as much as possible, avoiding symbols (this can only be done so far, obviously), e.g. "x is in X" or "S is a subset of X".

Happy writing/editing! Revolver 03:28, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Denial that I administrate anything much. Confirmation that you're very welcome, Dan. I think we all learn gradually about 'best practice' in writing articles (pesky TeX!). Charles Matthews 08:59, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Haile Gebrselassie

I notice that you removed what you call erroneous info. regarding the first person to run under 13 mins. for 5000 m (the only person to achieve this previously was Saïd Aouita in 1987 but he never ran sub 27 for 10000) and 27 min. for 10000 metres (only William Sigei in 1994 and Yobes Ondieki in 1993 had previously done this but neither ran the sub 13 minutes for 5000 prior to Haile doing this. You will see from this link [1] that he was the only person to go sub 13 mins in 1994 and the only person sub 27 minutes in 1995 you can further prove this by checking their personal bests for the events. Maybe it wasn't written as clearly as it should have been but you ought to check the details before deleting info.Scraggy4 21:48, 25 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimonography - Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin

I haven't looked at the English talk page for a while, I am sorry. These days I have to finish my Graduation Work so I will not continue work on the monography project for a while. Since you are interested in helping I'll contact you when things will move on. Chopinhauer 01:15, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] New Mathematics Wikiportal

I noticed you've done some work on Mathematics articles. I wanted to point out to you the new Mathematics Wikiportal- more specifically, to the Mathematics Collaboration of the Week page. I'm looking for any math-related stubs or non-existant articles that you would like to see on Wikipedia. Additionally, I wondered if you'd be willing to help out on some of the Collaboration of the Week pages.

I encourage you to vote on the current Collaboration of the Week, because I'm very interested in which articles you think need to be written or added to, and because I understand that I cannot do the enormous amount of work required on some of the Math stubs alone. I'm asking for your help, and also your critiques on the way the portal is set up.

Please direct all comments to my user-talk page, the Math Wikiportal talk page, or the Math Collaboration of the Week talk page. Thanks a lot for your support! ral315 02:54, Feb 11, 2005 (UTC)
