Hello all, I hope I've done this right. I'm pretty much a "techno-peasant" in that I love using my computer-- from my perspective as a grad student and aspiring writer, it's an incredible tool and marvelous distraction--and wasting time on the web, but have very little knowledge about how it all works and why. Wiki however, and the wikipedia in particular are an incredible development. In short, I want to play too so here I am.
I am an approximately 30-something from Utah with a BA in English and most of a Master's in written communication, so if I do contribute those are the areas you'll probably hear from me in (collectively you're all way too brilliant and knowledgeable for me,so I'm afraid there isn't much more for me to say). I'm also owned by a domestic medium hair cat who is too smart for her own good, read way too much--everyone says so-- and am a "once and future" fencer (the sport not the barrier, or the sale of stolen goods, thanks and if I hear more jokes referring to either I will chase you with my, albeit not sharp, sword). I think I know everything--it's a hard job, but someone has to do it--and seem to have a knack for making mechanical objects malfunction, earning me much malice from IT departments where I work and play. That's about all there is to say.
My major contribution to the Wikipedia at the moment is a somewhat cursory, though I hope not too inaccurate, entry on Fundamentalist Mormons. There wasn't one and I thought I knew something, so I started it. I sincerely hope those more knowledgeable than I am will add to and edit it mercilessly.
I have also added a few minor details to various fencing entries, most notably adding a few names to list of modern American foil fencers, which came out oddly formatted.
