Hi there. I joined Wikipedia on June 25, 2003. I plan to contribute information in several areas of subject matter.
Geographically, I currently live in Hilo, Hawaii, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Previously, I lived in Honolulu. Before coming to Hawaii, I lived in Haddonfield, New Jersey, Moorestown, New Jersey, Burlington, New Jersey and grew up in Hainesport, New Jersey. I have varying degrees of knowledge of these locations, and am a recognized expert on a couple. I have also traveled to Canada, Austria, France, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico and Uganda, as well as a majority of the United States.
Professionally, I work in astronomy. I formerly worked as a technology consultant, which means I got to work with such wondrous things as Unix, Linux, Mac OS X, Windows 98, Windows NT, GEOS and the Pick Operating System. Most of the attention I've gotten over the years, including mention in The Philadelphia Inquirer, has been in this field. I might be able to contribute some information on some of the more exotic ones.
In my spare time, I am also an aspiring photographer, mainly doing digital photography with equipment from Canon (company). I most commonly photograph international negotiations on environmental and development matters, which I attend on behalf of an NGO. I also like to photograph lava flows from Kilauea Volcano, and sea life including coral reefs, tropical fish, and green sea turtles. I am considering contributing some photographs to Wikipedia.
For over a decade, I have been tangentially involved with the music industry, writing reviews of recordings, primarily in the progressive metal and progressive rock genres. Over the years, this has led to me interviewing or meeting members of Queensrÿche, Dream Theater, Def Leppard, Suicidal Tendencies, Type O Negative and other bands. I may have a thing or two to add to some music pages.
