Daniel Vaughn Webber (born December 28, 1981 in Manchester) is an English football player. He is a striker for Sheffield United in the Premiership although he has started the season playing on the right wing.
Webber started his career as a schoolboy at Manchester United, where he made his debut as a substitute in the League Cup during the 2000-01 season. The following season, he made his first start in another League Cup game for Man Utd but was loaned out to Watford, where he scored two goals in five League appearances. A second loan spell in the season at Port Vale game him another four League games under his belt.
Season 2002-03 brought Webber his third and final appearance for Man Utd, as a substitute in the Champions League. At the end of the season he was offered a three year contract, but turned it down in order to seek first-team football.[1] In summer of 2003 he joined Watford permanently. Manchester United team-mate and close friend Jimmy Davis also moved to Watford (on a season-long loan) that summer, but was to die in a car-crash on the eve of the 2003-04 season.
After 17 goals and 63 games for the Hornets in two seasons at Vicarage Road, he was transferred to Sheffield United following the sacking of Ray Lewington. Nigel Gibbs took over the reigns at Vicarage Road, loaned Webber to Sheffield United, with Danny Cullip moving in the opposite direction. At the end of the season the two clubs agreed a fee of £500,000.
Webber recently scored the winning goals for Sheffield United in their Premiership clashes against Newcastle United and Watford.
