Danielle Spencer (US actress)

Danielle Spencer, DVM (born June 24, 1965) is an American actress, veterinarian and former child star best known for her role as the sarcastic adolescent "Dee Thomas" on the 1970s American sitcom What's Happening!! She played the role for three years (1976-1979) and then reprised the role for the series' sequel, What's Happening Now!!, in 1985.
Spencer became a veterinarian in 1996. She still acts occasionally, often playing a veterinarian as she did in the 1997 feature film As Good As It Gets. Her last film role to date was in the short feature Peter Rabbit and the Crucifix (2001).
Spencer is the stepdaughter of actor Tim Pelt, who was killed in a car accident in 1977. Spencer herself was seriously injured in that same accident.
Spencer has been married since 1999.
Spencer tied with Alison Arngrim (Nellie on Little House on the Prairie) for "Character Most in Need of a Time-out" award on Nickelodeon's TV Land Awards in 2006 for her role on "What's Happening".
