Daniel Sonenberg

Daniel Sonenberg (born in 1970, in New York, NY) is an American composer, performer and educator. He studied with Joan Tower and Daron Hagen at Bard College, with George Tsontakis at the Aspen Music Festival, and with David Del Tredici at the City University of New York. In his music, particularly in vocal compositions such as Baseball Songs (1999) and The Art of Eating (2001), he has explored aspects of American life. His Mejdoub (1998), scored for accordion, clarinet, guitar, drums and piano, draws on his own experience as a rock drummer with such bands as Delayed Green Wait, Toothbucket, Trike, and Truth About Daisies. He is currently Assistant Professor and Resident Composer at the University of Southern Maine. He is currently listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, and has received awards and fellowships from Meet the Composer, the Corporation of Yaddo, the MacDowell Colony, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
