Daniel Ryder

Daniel Ryder (born January 12, 1987 in Bonavista, Newfoundland) is an ice hockey prospect who currently plays for the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League. He won the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as the Most Valuable Player in the 2006 OHL playoffs, leading his Petes to the J. Ross Robertson Cup. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

On December 4th, 2006 Ryder was left off the Canadian World Junior Team evaluation camp roster. At the time he was fourth in OHL scoring. He seemed to be a virtual lock to make this camp after winning playoff MVP honours and starting this season out with 52 points in 27 games.

He is the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens player Michael Ryder.
