Daniel Peterson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Daniel Peterson is a politician and consultant living in Juneau, Alaska. A former member of the Phoenix Program at Juneau-Douglas High School, he decided to continue his planned senior project even after the program was cut for funding. The project involved running a campaign for school board when he became eligible at the start of his last year of high school. As a result of this campaign he was elected to a seat on the board while still a student in the school he was overseeing. Although some raised conflict of interest concerns over this, Peterson himself was light-hearted about the matter, often citing the advantages it gave him as Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, jokingly pointing out that if the administration became to heavy handed in attempted censorship he could always threaten to cut their salaries.

After Dan's tenure on the School Board, he then organized a campaign for the City Assembly. Though initially considered a long shot, he organized support within the youth community and parents he had worked with while on the School Board and captured the seat. He is the youngest member ever elected to this posistion.

In addition to his political activities, Dan also runs a consulting service.
