Daniel Avila

Daniel Avila is a freelance photographer from southern California and was also a contestant on the television game show Greed, and also the only contestant to ever reach the two million dollar question. The topic of the question was odors, and he was to pick the four most recognizable scents (out of nine possible choices), as identified by a Yale University study. He had a 30 second time limit to think of his answers, and then 10 seconds to name them. He correctly chose peanut butter, coffee, and Vicks Vaporub. However, his fourth answer, tuna, was incorrect. The correct answer was chocolate.
Avila returned during another taping of the show to compete with one of his former teammates. This was known as one of the show's "Million-Dollar Moments". He had won the showdown between the two, answering a question about Amazon.com. When entering the one million dollar question, the topic was U.S. vacation spots. He had to identify the four U.S. cities visited most often by overseas travelers in 1998, out of eight choices (Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Boston, New Orleans, Orlando, Miami, and Las Vegas). His first three guesses (Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando) were correct, but he answered the fourth (Las Vegas) incorrectly, and lost.
Daniel also appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 2005, and won a total of $100,000. He was also a one-time champion on Jeopardy!, winning $5,300.
