Dance Factory (game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dance Factory is a PlayStation 2 game developed by Codemasters. It is similar to Dance Dance Revolution, but generates steps from any music CD. The game is also slated to be released for the Nintendo Wii. [citation needed]
[edit] Modes
Dance Factory also has a variety of modes:
- Endurance is where a player plays through the five licenced songs on the game (e.g., Don't Cha, by the Pussycat Dolls).
- Fitness is like Endurance mode. Height and weight is entered at the beginning. There is a calorie counter on the screen. Mis-stepping will now say 'Porky' and 'Gettin' Chubby' instead of 'Miss.' When a song is finished, the screen shows the number of calories burned and how far one would have to jog or cycle to burn off the same number.
- Creature
[edit] Criticisms
Dance Factory has often been criticised by reviewers for being little more than a 'novelty' that doesn't always synch the dance steps to the beat. Games Master magazine in their October 2006 issue gave the game 68%.
Game Informer stated in its August 2006 issue that the game makes a track based on the tempo of the song and not the rhythm and that the game seems to lose sync with the notes after about three minutes into a track.
