Dan McCafferty (born 14 October 1946 in Dunfermline, Scotland) is the lead singer for the Scottish hard rock band, Nazareth.

[edit] Career

McCafferty is one of the founding members of the band joining in 1965. He has one of the most distinctive voices in rock, one that has favourably been compared to that of Bon Scott (former vocalist in AC/DC).

McCafferty's list of admirers include current AC/DC singer Brian Johnson (who did a Nazareth cover during his stint with the Newcastle based band Geordie) and Axl Rose of Guns 'N' Roses. The latter asked McCafferty to sing "Love Hurts" at his wedding. McCafferty was also asked (at different times) to join as lead singer in Deep Purple and AC/DC (after Bon Scott's death), but refused both offers on the grounds that he would never leave Nazareth.

He has appeared on all Nazareth albums. He has released two solo albums. His debut album - 1975's - Dan McCafferty, plus 1987's Into The Ring.
