Dan Inosanto

Dan "Danny" Inosanto (born July 24, 1936) is a famous Filipino American martial arts instructor from California who is perhaps best known for being both a teacher (FMA) and a student of Jeet Kune Do/Wing Chun to late martial artist Bruce Lee.

Inosanto teaches Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do, Inosanto Kali, grappling, Muay Thai, Silat, Tai Chi Chuan and other arts at his Marina del Rey, California school, the Inosanto Academy. He was an instructor for Ed Parker in American Kenpo Karate before becoming a senior student of martial artist Bruce Lee. Inosanto also studied with dozens of martial art masters elsewhere in the United States, Southeast Asia, and Europe. After Bruce Lee's death, he has become the principal spokesperson for Jeet Kune Do. He has had minor roles in a number of movies, including the Game of Death (1973).
Inosanto continues to teach and conduct seminars worldwide. He has been directly responsible for introducing many prominent martial artists, including Pendekar Paul de Thouars, Edgar Sulite, Ajarn Chai, Leo Gaje, Herman Suwanda, and Maung Gyi to the general martial arts community.
Himself the student of many highly regarded martial artists, he holds Instructor or Black Belt Level ranks in as many as 7 martial arts. He is well known for promoting the Filipino Martial Arts. He is responsible for bringing several quiet and hidden forms of the Filipino Martial Arts into the public eye and saving them from extinction. He has recently acquired his black belt in the Machado Family style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Notable students of Dan Inosanto include Erik Paulson, Stephan Kesting, Burton Richardson, Larry Hartsell, Jeff Imada, Brandon Lee, Paul Vunak, Pat Tray, Pat Finley, Chris Kent, Cass Magda, Rick Faye, Greg Nelson, Tim Tackett, Mark Stewart, Pedro Rodriguez, Rick Tucci, Mark Mikita, Steve Grody, Ron Kosakowski, Norman Wilson, Dwight Woods, Steve Tarani, Steve Fristoe, Ernest Emerson, and Terry Gibson. In addition, the full contact stick fighting organization known as "The Dog Brothers" emerged from the Inosanto Academy. Also, Norris Domangue, John Hackman, Jim Edwards, and Yvette Costales are all Inosanto trained and currently teach in Virginia at the Eastwind Academy of Martial Arts.
Today, Mr. Inosanto's son-in-law Ron Balicki conducts seminars, teaching the Inosanto fighting arts along with his wife Diana Lee Inosanto.
