Dan F. Long Middle School recognizes, accepts and accommodates for the unique developmental characteristics of our students. This is done by creating a school culture of “family” and providing a rigorous academic curriculum. Within our rigorous academic curriculum, various researched instructional strategies are incorporated. Our organizational/curricular structurei ncludes a departmentalize system, a wide selection of elective offerings with emphasis on technology and many extracurricular activities.
Dan F. Long received an accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency as being an ‘Academically Acceptable’ School for the 2004-2005 year. The students of Dan F. Long Middle School have achieved many accomplishments during the 04-05 school year. Some of which include:
• 6 students qualified to advance to the State level of competition of Performance Standards. Two of the students placed in highest level of recognition. The assessment project measures high levels of academic achievement by gifted and talented students in Texas
• 5 students received state recognition in the Duke University Talent Search
• 2 students received Theater Arts recognition
• 9 students made All-Region Choir
• Varsity Women’s Choir – Sweepstakes
• Varsity Men’s Choir received a 1 in concert
• JV Women’s Choir received a 2 in concert
• Varsity Women’s Choir received Superior Musical Performance and Most Outstanding in Class award.
• 13 students received medal for earning a score of 1 on their solos.
