Dan Donegan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dan Donegan, (born on August 1, 1968 in Oak Lawn, Illinois) is an American musician, and guitarist for hard rock or heavy metal band Disturbed. He began playing guitar as a teenager and eventually formed a band called Vandal, which was an 80's style hair band. Also during his teen years, Dan had long hair. According to Disturbed DVD title M.O.L, Dan got a job with his father doing construction work. He was required to cut his hair for it, but instead opted to wear a wig in order to fool his dad and keep his long hair. It worked, and his dad eventually let him keep his long hair.
[edit] Equipment
Dan played Gibson guitars for a while, then Paul Reed Smith Guitars, before Washburn Guitars custom built Dan his very own series called the Maya Series, after his daughter Maya. Distinctively styled, they have a Seymour Duncan El Diablo pickup at the bridge and a '59 at the neck, with a string through body Tone Pros bridge. However, Donegan has found a new face in guitars after playing a PRS Tremonti guitar, which was used in Disturbed's album Believe. To Date, Donegan uses the Maya Signature Series guitars equipped with GHS gauge 10-46 Strings in a drop Db tuning. He claims he uses Randall amps for the Indoor events, and uses MESA Engineering Triple Rectifier amps for the outside Concerts. He does this to "Keep the Sponsors Happy," as he told a fan on his Myspace Page. As for effects, Donegan uses: A Digitech Wh4, a Digital Music Corp GCX Control Pro, Randall RM4 Pre-amp (loaded with "blackface," "sl+," "clean," and "1086 prototype" mts modules), Randall RT2/50 2-Channel All-Tube Power Amps, Dunlop DCR-1SR Rack Wah and Controller, TC Electronic G-Force, Shure U4D UHF Dual-Channel Marcad Wireless Receiver, Whirlwind Milti-Selector, Digital Music Corp GCX Audio Switcher, MXR M-135 Smart Gate, MXR EVH Phase 90, two Digitech "The Weapon" Pedals, and a Boss AW-3.
