[edit] Controversy

While Campbell was at Texas A&M University, he made a controversial statement at the 1998 Aggie Bonfire event regarding homosexuality. Mr. Campbell said that he was happy to go to a school where "women like men, and men like women." The University issued an apology on behalf of Campbell after an on-campus gay rights organization protested. [1] In response, an ultra-conservative church group from Nebraska staged an anti-homosexuality protest in College Station and at the 1998 Big 12 Championship game.
