[edit] GNAA

(Summary: SPUI informed me that the form of the name of the GNAA wasn't patterned after the names of copyright industry trade groups.)

[edit] Blast from the Past!

Damian! I last saw you fourteen years ago, at Weisser Park Elementary! Do you remember Joe Brennan from the Knowledge Master Open Team (aka "Geek Squad?") We went down to Lexington, KY with Mr. Schott, Kraig Kumfer and Ross ___ (his last name escapes me at the moment) to compete in that other academic tournament (the name of which also escapes me). Wow, that was more than half a lifetime ago! What are you up to these days? Drop me a line sometime here or at my user page. Take care!

[edit] Talk:The Time Machine

BTW, did you ever get around to writing that novel of yours...? Rickyrab | Talk 15:29, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

I lost interest. --Damian Yerrick 16:25, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Calvin and Hobbes

Hello. A long time ago (back in 2001!!) you made an edit to the then-nascent Calvin and Hobbes article. I wonder if, despite the intervening years, you might be able to provide the source for the information about Custom Vehicle Graphics. I'd like the article either to provide a reference for that fact, or for that part to be removed if it cannot be verified. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could. I got it from the company's web site, which apparently no longer exists. I'll genericize the reference. --Damian Yerrick 01:56, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

By the way, if you hadn't noticed, Calvin and Hobbes made it to Featured Article status a while back. It's regressed somewhat since, but it's still something I hope you can feel pleased about, having contributed to it in the early stages. Alanyst 21:26, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] labialization

Hi Damian, I think if you look in a mirror and say sip, then ship, you'll notice some lip rounding with ship that you don't get with the other. I'd be interested to hear if you don't; I'm under the impression that light labialization of sh etc. is fairly universal in English (and perhaps western Europe). kwami 2005 July 3 07:01 (UTC)

I don't see nor feel any labialization of my own esh sounds. --Damian Yerrick 3 July 2005 14:40 (UTC)

[edit] Flood fill

Damian, could you explain what's going on with Flood fill? I don't dispute the correctness of the "east-west optimization" — I removed it only because I think it makes the article a little source code–heavy. But I really can't figure out what you mean by "Tetris" and "Columns" — it doesn't seem to be what a lot of other Wikipedians mean by the same names. See Talk:Flood fill. --Quuxplusone 01:10, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Voting on wikipedia:conlangs has started

Since you've been part of the discussion I thought I'd let you know. Do spread the word to others who would like to vote on it too. --Kaleissin 14:35:14, 2005-08-29 (UTC)

[edit] Nominal #'s

My face is burning. I barely looked at you entry, and assumed it was left over from the exchange we had earlier. I'm generally not that bad, but I was fighting off a rather pernicious vandal attack for the last few hours. DV8 2XL 22:33, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Margaret Keane Imitation

I removed the link from the word "imitated" to "Precious Moments" you've made in the article for Margaret Keane. One, because imitation is in the eye of the beholder. Two, even if Ms. Keane's work was purposely imitated, surely Precious Moments is not the only imitator. I think the article on kitsch does a good job of linking them together. --Emana 21:48, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Template:SNES

I notice you changed the image at Template:SNES because the previous image wasn't a SNES controller. I just wanted to point out that the template doesn't actually have anything to do with the SNES, just the Nintendo Wikiproject. That being said, I don't really care what image is there, as long as it's not claiming fair use. Pagrashtak 05:56, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Word Jaggies?

Thanks for updating that old "anti-cabal" image on my talkpage to the new "there is no cabal" image that superceded it. I have a question though: what on Earth do you mean by "Be careful with the use of the word jaggies"? ~CS 23:03, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

For each use of the old image, I took a sentence near the use of the image and replaced the operative word with "jaggies". --Damian Yerrick () 02:29, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cropping of the Weird Al Screencap

Was this really necessary? I think you're talking the idea of 'free' a bit too far there mate. 203.109.245.204 10:14, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Some editors are just anal-retentive about what makes a detailed rationale, even in cases where one of the blanket rationales applies. --Damian Yerrick () 14:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Argh!

LOL!! Having seen you for years in pocketheaven forum, now I find you have a Wikipedia user page. You're cool, man! Congrats for your playful mind.

PS: Oh, don't bother ask me who I am, just a random lurker. Your GSM player is neat :)

PS2: "infinitespin.ytmnd.com" LOL LOL LOL!! You are a fascinating guy.

The most modern version of Tetris I play is Tetris DX, using Goomba. My first original Tetris game was Tetris Plus, and it got me hooked for hours. Somehow I was disappointed with the GBA version of Tetris, and Tetris for DS just got worse. They don't do them like they used to. It may be Henk Rogers' fault as you say :)

[edit] y-delta transform

The resistor reference designators in the y-delta figure don't match the equations below it for the new figure that you have placed in Y-Δ transform. Were you intending to change the equations too, or was this an oversight? Ken6en 02:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

My bad. I didn't notice the error in the image when I blindly followed an SVG supersede link. Anyway, commons:user:Tibault uploaded a corrected version to Commons a few days ago, but for some reason it hasn't shown up on WP yet. --Damian Yerrick () 03:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Someone has already reverted the image back. I'll put the new SVG in if I see it. Ken6en 04:11, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

A NEW CAR!!!!!111 It's yours if the cite is right.

Hey...I'm the one who made public the existence of unaired episodes of The Price Is Right. I'd like to provide citations for them, but I'm really not sure how...the only public documentaion of the episodes' existence is in things that I wrote and thus don't feel comfortable adding as references, and the only other way to prove it would be to actually acquire CBS Programming Practices's files on the episodes (which I'm pretty sure I theoretically could do, but it'd be a lot more trouble than it's worth). Some suggestions, maybe? -TPIRFanSteve 03:18, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Everything on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable. Gather evidence of the unaired episodes' existence, publish the evidence on your fan site, report it in Wikinews for practice, and then shop it around to various reliable sources. --Damian Yerrick () 05:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] definition of polycube

Hi,

I saw your edit on pentomino. I understood that polycube is what each piece can be 3D. The puzzule here is by pieces 2D configured cubes. AIEA 01:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

In other words, it's the subset of pentacubes that correspond to the pentominoes. That's what I was trying to get at. See Talk:Tetromino#Tetracubes where 208.58.249.130 desired more rigor in the distinction between tetrominoes and tetracubes. --Damian Yerrick () 02:25, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes. What IP user 208.. says is correct. And the 3D pentomino puzzule uses subset of pentacubes. Your new revision makes less confusing. Thanks. AIEA 21:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:NINTENDODS.PNG

The image was used to illustrate the Nintendo DS itself. There are already a few free images of just the Nintendo DS. Also, if we were illustrating the video game, we'd be better off with full screenshots instead of having also showing the DS. I suppose Orphaned fair use replaced would have been a better tag... Hbdragon88 03:55, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Replaced by which? --Damian Yerrick () 03:58, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, that user had uploaded just a plain Nintendo DS with only the welcome screen up, and Image:NDS.jpg is also a free image of the Nintendo DS. Hbdragon88 05:12, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

We could just easily Photoshop the firmware screens out, I guess. Hbdragon88 05:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A quick word of thanks

Thank you for editing the Defense Message System subsection that I had tagged when I was up late and too tired to make the corrections myself. I apologize for making more work for you. —CrazyDreamer 08:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image logos

That user just uploaded Image:Nintendo_DS_Default.PNG, which contains an image of the logo. Is this a truly free image, or does it fall under {{logo}}? Hbdragon88 01:51, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not exactly an expert here. Try asking in the image's talk page. --Damian Yerrick () 03:22, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, someone has brought this subpage of yours to my attention, and it appears to be a very long list of external links. Per policy, Wikipedia is not a repository of external links, so it may be subject to deletion on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. However, I noticed you haven't touched the subpage since 2002, so if you feel don't need it anymore, you can tag it with {{db-user}}. --Coredesat 08:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

A fellow administrator, actually. I recognized your name from the Bemani community and figured I'd just send a message rather than go through a MFD. --Coredesat 21:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
