Dallol (woreda)

Dallol is one of the 31 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. This woreda is named for the former mining settlement of Dallol, which set the record for the hottest inhabited place on Earth, with an average temperature of 34° C.
Part of the Administrative Zone 2, Dallol's territory includes part of the Afar Depression. This woreda is bordered on the south by Koneba, on the west by the Tigray Region, on the north by Eritrea, and on the east by Berahle. Detailed information is not available for the settlements in this woreda.
Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 58,277, of whom 27,026 were males and 31,251 were females. Information is not available for the area of Dallol, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
