The Dallas Harlequins Rugby Football Club is a SuperLeague rugby union team based in Dallas, Texas.
[edit] History
The Harlequins formed in 1971. A year after inception, in 1972, the Harlequins became the first Texas RFU club to win a match against a club from outside the United States when they defeated the Baillou Club of Nassau, Bahamas. The team name is a tribute to Harlequin FC, an English club that competes in the Guinness Premiership. Though they had begun using the Harlequin name upon formation, they did not become formally affiliated with Harlequin FC until 1983. This marked the first time that a club from the western hemisphere had formed an official relationship with the team for whom they were named.[1]
[edit] Sponsorship
The SuperLeague's primary sponsor is Michelob Amber Bock and as such, each individual team receives a portion of those revenues. In addition to Amber Bock, Dallas Harlequins RFC has individual sponsorships. Notable primary sponsors include Chase. The club also has several secondary sponsorships from local and regional businesses. [2]
