Dalia Itzik

Dalia Itzik (b. October 20, 1952) is the current chairwoman of the Israeli Knesset from the Kadima party. She was elected and took office as the first female speaker of the Israeli parliament on May 4, 2006.
Itzik was born in Jerusalem. In her political career, Itzik served as Jerusalem's deputy mayor. She has also served as the Commerce, Environment, and most recently, Communication Minister.
She was first elected to the 12th Knesset in 1992, and was re-elected to the subsequent five Knessets. On November 28, 2005, Itzik quit the Labour party and joined Ariel Sharon's newly formed party, Kadima.
