Daisy is a Shar Pei/Chow Chow who spent more than a month in intensive care after suffering second-degree and third-degree burns on her belly, legs, and eyelids in Fort Worth, Texas.

On June 28, 2002, Daisy entered the property of Robert Aretz Lindsay, who unsuccessfully tried to shoo Daisy away. Lindsay then poured gasoline over the dog and set her on fire. He was later arrested by Fort Worth Police and indicted on felony charges of animal cruelty, and his attorney claimed he was too incompetent to stand trial.

The Humane Society of North Texas took ownership of the ten-month-old Daisy when the Fort Worth Police called and took her to a 24-hour veterinary hospital.

Ernie Stewart, webmaster of Ehowa.com, appealed to the readers of his website to raise money to help ensure Daisy’s continuing medical care. Within 24 hours, more than 700 people donated over $13,000, more than enough to cover the dog’s expenses which topped out at about $10,000 after three months in the hospital. The remainder of the funds was used towards the HSNT Cruelty Investigation Unit.

Today, Daisy is in her forever home with Tami Hollerich and Ivan Kuncheff and their other two dogs Max and Petroleum. Her new owners renamed her Timex to reflect her undying spirit, as the watchmaker's slogan was, "It takes a licking, but keeps on ticking," but Hollerich said the name didn't "take" and they now go by Daisy; and she is fat, spoiled, and healthy in west Fort Worth.
