Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) is an agricultural marketing cooperative owned by about 21,946 members (dairy farmers) representing over 12,000 farms in the United States representing one-third of the US milk supply. In 2004 it had $8,494,360,000 in sales. It is based in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of DairyAmerica, which markets dry milk and other products.

Since 1998 it has licensed the mascot Elsie the Cow from Borden Milk Products for use on cheese. It also has a joint venture in butter with Keller's Creamery, including the manufacture of brands Keller’s Bar, Plugra, Cottage Creamer and Dairy Maid. Other brands include: Golden Cheese, Mid-America Farms, Jacobo, Enricco, CalPro, Sport Shake, VitalCal

It was formed in 1998 by the combination of four dairy cooperatives

  • Associated Milk Producers, Inc. (AMPI),
  • Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. (Mid-Am),
  • Milk Marketing, Inc. (MMI) and
  • Western Dairymen Cooperative, Inc. (WDCI).

Three additional dairies have joined:

  • Independent Cooperative Milk Producers Association (ICMPA),
  • Valley of Virginia Milk Producers Association, and
  • California Cooperative Creamery (Cal-Gold)
