Daigo Kazama (風間 醍醐 Kazama Daigo?) is a fictional character from the Rival Schools videogame series. A third-year student from Gedo High School, he is also portrayed as an infamous leader of a gang of students from Gedo. Akira Kazama is his younger sister.

[edit] Rival Schools

When a rash of kidnappings and assaults hit the other schools, Daigo suspected that the persons behind the attacks were people from Justice High School. Going alone, he confronted Justice's Hyo Imawano, but was easily defeated (with Hyo giving him a scar over his right eye) and turned into a brainwashed soldier of the school. It would not be until his sister Akira, along with two of his subordinates, Edge and Gan, broke into the school that he would be freed from the brainwashing.

Though he was back to normal, Daigo was bothered by his defeat to Hyo. Over the next year, he disappeared to train himself. However, during this time he was found by Kurow Kirishima and forcibly brainwashed to do the young ninja's bidding. The brainwashing at first glance left no noticeable change, but also could turn Daigo into a mindless fighting machine, at the command of Kurow or his sister Yurika.

He returned to Gedo and ordered his gang to attack other schools unprovoked, which disturbed both Edge and Gan. This forced his two subordinates to call on Akira for help, and she confronted Daigo as he was about to attack her school, Seijyun Girls High School. With the help of her friend, Daigo was beaten and freed (again) of brainwashing. Disappointed at himself, Daigo left to train again, leaving Edge and Gan in charge of the Gedo gang until his return.

An alternate storylines for Gedo High has Daigo instead continue to be brainwashed by Kurow, and eventually dies from injuries he suffers fighting his friends. It is not certain which ending is canon; with no new Rival Schools games in production, his fate is unknown.

The brainwashed Daigo is unlockable in Project Justice as Wild Daigo.
