Dohad is a city and a municipality in Dohad district in the state of Gujarat, India. It is 200 kms away from Ahmedabad and 150 kms away from Vadodara.

The famous Aurangzeb fort is here. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, was born in Dahod in 1618. Aurangzeb was quoted to have ordered his miniters to show favors to this small town, as it was his birthplace.

It was previously under the boundaries of the Panchmahal district, but is now a proper district. The far flung area of Godi road , Godhra Road has been considerably developed, making the overall habitation and commercial area very expansive. Quite recently the foundation stone for a Dental college has been laid by the trust of the philanthropist Girdharlal Sheth, known as the Dahod Anaj Mahajan.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Dohad had a population of 79,185. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Dohad has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81% and, female literacy is 71%. In Dohad, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Dahod is an economic center in the area. Neighbouring towns like Jhalod, Limadi, Satarampur get their supply from Dahod. Dahod has been expanding rapidly by its economic growth.
