Dagoba (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dagoba is a French industrial metal band.
In 1998, the arriving of a new rhythmic section bring to the band’s compositions elements more metal (a big drum more present and a guitars’ tuning heavier), which accords to privilege the power from big sounds. So Dagoba record two demos ("Time To Go" and "Time To Go…") good-welcomed by press and continue a lot of concerts in the region P.A.C.A., fabricating like this a serious notoriety in the metal underground.
Beginning 2001. Dagoba sign on Enternote label and record their first EP "Release The Fury" with impressive digipak and video ("Rush"). Distributed by Edel/Sony, "Release The Fury" get a welcome more than cheering. The band astonishes by their fury in concert and their neo-military style.
March 2003, Dagoba release their first self-titled album. The band had modified since "Release The Fury". After the sorting out of Stephan, the crew continued to play at four and are henceforward distributed by EMI, signed on Enternote. The cover and the libretto realized well. And when one listens to the intro, they are immediately implicated, it is quite bizarre, sinister, there are noises of metal and electronic noises. Then, suddenly, it begins. "Maniak" A successful European tour and a recognition at least deserved made Dagoba one of the biggest metal band of the year.
February 2006. New album, "What Hell Is About". Fans were waiting for it for 2 years. Very different from their last album, this second opus is radically more somber and more beautiful, mingling gothic sonorities to a more mastered sound. Produced by Tue Madsen on Season Of Mist, Dagoba indulge in the luxury of having Simen "ICS Vortex" Hestnæs" (Dimmu Borgir, Arcturus) on guest on 2 tracks ! Nobody can say that this second album is better or worse than the first because he is completely different. In any case, this album is monstrous. It is proposed in a double edition, a cover and a libretto hallucinating of beauty, that makes think of the cover-montages in the librettos of Cradle Of Filth. Moreover, the concerts are startling and the recognition of Dagoba is now eternal..
