D. V. Gundappa

D. V. Gundappa or Deeveegee (1887-1975) was one of the most prominent Kannada writers, and a philosopher of the twentieth century. His most famous book, Manku Thimmana Kagga, is a collection of songs.

Dr. D. V. G in his later years also came up with second innings for Manku Thimmana Kagga known as Maralu Muniyana Kagga.

Another famous work of Dr. D. V. G is Srimad BhagavadGeeta Tatparya or Jeevana Dharma Yoga which has received Kendra Sahitya Academy award.

Very notable essays of Dr. D. V. G are:

  3. Purushasukta
  4. Devaru
  5. Rutha, Satya mattu Dharma
  6. Eshavasyo Upanishat
  7. Sahitya Shakti

and many many more.

Dr. Deeveegee received Padmabhushan in 1974.
