I am a male Wikipedian living in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. Politically, I consider myself to be of a generally liberal persuasion, and I exercise my right to vote in every election, no matter how minor. I graduated high school in 2005, and am currently attending college. I plan to major in both English and Political Science, hopefully in 2009, but I wouldn't mind rushing things. We'll see how it goes.

[edit] My presence on Wikipedia

After years of enjoying Wikipedia as a resource, my first "real" experience editing came in December 2005, when I did something I'd long planned on -- creating articles for the article-less public high schools in my city. I also learned that day that haste can really suck... sadly for me, I was coincidentally beaten to the punch by mere hours on creating the article for my own high school.

A combination of factors would forestall my regular presence on Wikipedia until June 2006.

Once I had briefly soaked my feet in everything and realized I would be a Wikipedian for good, Czj started off as an account on my laptop, which I could use to distinguish laptop edits from desktop edits. As you can imagine, my personal upholding of that idea quickly faded. I found myself commonly performing the "major" tasks (page creations, AfD nominations, article overhauls, etc.) from the other account, since it had more edits so I thought it'd be looked upon better. Ultimately, I realized how ridiculous the whole thing was, and decided to use solely this account for both my gnoming and more significant edits/comments. I also enjoy RC patrolling, particularly page creations and edits by anonymous users.

If it ever becomes possible, I intend to merge the old account's edits to here, along with all anonymous edits (which I have a semi-complete record of). All in all, I have somewhere around 600 edits (excluding those for deleted pages) not accounted for in Czj's edit history.

I may also change this username in the future (thanks to the kind folks here) to something that better suits me, if I ever think of any such thing. It's not at the top of my list, though.

Fun fact: My first edit ever was making some minor spelling corrections to the Leeroy Jenkins article on May 26, 2005, from the username "Bmp". I only ever contributed once from that name, but really miss it... no idea what the password is.

[edit] Articles I've started

Generally, I can be found making improvements to existing articles, but once in a while, I'll crank something out of my own. Among those I'm more proud of:

  • Cosmic Voyage - an Oscar-nominated IMAX film
  • LokiTorrent - one of the first and most popular torrent sites around, which was met with a very odd demise
  • Blurty - blogging site with almost 1m accounts registered
  • ManBeef - popular Internet hoax earlier this decade that almost fooled the FDA
  • Ogden Edsl - now-defunct comedy band frequently featured on Dr. Demento Radio Show
  • Tim Cavanagh - comedy musician; frequent guest on Bob & Tom who has also done stand-up for Comedy Central, ABC and Showtime
  • Vimeo - a more popular video-sharing community online
  • SmartComputing, PC Today and First Glimpse - monthly magazines
  • Big Bumpin' and PocketBike Racer - two of the three Burger King advergames for X-Box
  • Doorbuster

Local stuff:

I could very well be leaving a few out.

I've also mass-stubbed articles for Doug and Rocko's Modern Life episodes, along with season infoboxes where applicable. If you are a fan, please contribute to these articles. :)

[edit] Thoughts about procedure

Unless blatant vandalism is transpiring, I have yet to engage in "edit-warring." I would prefer to discuss differences on a talk pages rather than revert three times and ultimately end up at odds with another member. I firmly believe that negotiation and compromise can solve 99.5% of content disputes, and I would strongly prefer that method.

[edit] Doppelganger accounts

I own a single doppelganger account: Cjz. I don't think that any other permutation of these three letters resembles my true username as closely as that, so I'm leaving Zcj, Zjc, Jcz and Jzc open for posterity, provided they're not already taken. As it stands, Wikipedia won't let accounts with alternate capitalization (i.e., CzJ, CZj) be created, because they're too close, which I like.

[edit] Personal hobbies and interests

My primary hobbies, in no particular order, include:

I find the idea of a flash mob quite intriguing... Improv Everywhere and Prangstgrüp are my heroes.

I am an avid fan of Homestar Runner.

I am a semi-active Digg user with 7 frontpage stories. My first 5 were made in January 2006 and prior. My largest frontpage story on Digg received 5,224 diggs, but did not make it to Diggnation.

[edit] Closing notes

You are welcomed (even encouraged) to make minor edits to this page, such as reverting vandalism (grr), fixing a grammatical anomaly, or correcting a Wikilink which is indirect or incorrect. Otherwise, please use my talk page to contact me.
