The Czech national men's ice hockey team is one of the top rated national ice hockey teams in the world, currently ranked 2nd by the IIHF behind the Swedish national men's ice hockey team. It is controlled by the Czech Ice Hockey Association. The Czechs won the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and won three straight gold medals at the world championships from 1999 to 2001. But year after the Czechs won the gold medal at the 2005 tournament. At the 2006 Winter Olympics the Czechs won the bronze medal, defeating Russia 3-0 (see roster).
