Czech legislative election, 1992

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Czech legislative election took place on June 5 and June 6, 1992.

These elections were the second elections after the Velvet Revolution. They took place within the Czechoslovak parliamentary election, 1992, i.e. people in Czech republic elected deputies to the Czech National Council (Czech parliament) and to the Federal Assembly (federal parliament). After the break-up of Czechoslovakia, the Czech National Council was transformed into the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic without new elections. The Chamber of Deputies is the lower house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Note that the first elections to the upper house (the Senate) were held in 1996, so the Chamber of Deputies was the only house until 1996.
